Marian Council is associated with St. Joseph's Church in Manchester MO. The church is located at 555 St.Joseph Ln. 1/2 mile South of Manchester Rd. on Sulphur Springs Rd. The Grand Knight for 2011-2012 is Dave Gockley. You can contact the Knights by phone at 636-230-9189, or by email at bandsaw363@charter.net.
Our business meetings take place on the second Thursday of each month. If you are a member of the Knights of Columbus and are in “good standing,” you are most welcome to attend. Until construction of the St. Joseph Parish Center has been completed, our business meetings are being held in the St. Joseph School cafeteria.
Our planning meetings currently are held in the lower level of the Notre Dame House, 526 St. Joseph Lane, on the fourth Thursday of each month. All members are welcome, but it is important that Officers and Committee Chairmen try to attend.
Marian Council of the Knights of Columbus was founded in 1988, primarily through the efforts of Tom Pavelco, Ernie Useted, and Bob Villaire. The council derives its name from the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Our primary mission is service to the community which manifests itself in a variety of activities:
We are constantly engaged in fund raising projects to benefit the poor and the developmentally disabled not only in the immediate West County area but also in the entire St. Louis area.
We supply the manpower for service projects as various as helping to staff and maintain a soup kitchen in the City of St. Louis, sponsoring and helping to run youth activities, and picking up trash on public roadways.
We assist with St. Joseph Parish events and assist in raising funds for various church projects.
We financially support vocations through stipends to seminary students from our parish.
We sponsor, organize, and help to run programs for St. Joseph School.
The Marian Council reflects the spirit of the Knights of Columbus: we encourage fraternity and benevolence among our members; we encourage community and patriotic involvement; and we protect the interest of the Roman Catholic Church.
